DIY Desk System for Digital Nomads #digitalnomad #portugal #travel
This is a custom desk system I came up with for working on the go. You never know what furniture your Airbnb is going to have. So this is a simple way I can ensure a minimum amount of utility and organization for my mobile travel office.

Great video, and especially loved how you allowed your kids to get involved (until the Real danger became evident!!! Super Cool of you for that!!! My passions came from my Grandfather including me in his 'chores' as well; and they left a lasting and loving memory of him to this day! By the way, I believe you would have faster success by cutting off the branches and main trunk Before you go to pulling the trunk and root-ball system out. It would also make for an easier/safer cleanup that your children could also help you with!
Moe betta brah!
Thanks! 😆
How can i do for a 2 inch pipe...?
I’ve seen people put some fresh extra PVC cement inside the pipe section being removed, and light it on fire. 🔥When the pipe was soft enough from the heat, use pliers to remove the soft pipe section. Seems a bit risky but it worked for them. If you wanted to try the more conservative method I showed in the video, I would use a piece of larger steel pipe that is just smaller than the ID of the piece you’re removing, and heat it red hot. Might need to repeat a few times to get the plastic pipe piece soft enough. Hope you get it done smoothly!
Love it!!! Looks like some super cool playground contraptions! So glad you are all being refreshed.
Very informative introduction about the log splitter. I'm wondering whether you are up for a collaboration to talk about chainsaw maintenance and repairing to help the DIY loggers? Maybe we can collaborate?
I'm gonna go with FlexSeal Only because where I live it rains, then freezes, then expands and F*cks everything up!
how thick the osb should to be to have a resistant structure for walking over it?
Thanks for sharing your work. While I note comments like “don’t have children around”, and understand the safety concerns, you were aware of where they were and directed them to go to or stay in safe places. The lessons you taught them are ones they will remember for their lifetimes, and likely apply to their own problems. You taught them that they can outsmart and overcome obstacles that seem daunting at first. You worked together as a family, which is stronger as a unit than any individual member. You shared your ideas and approaches to address the problem. You listened to your wife and your children and acted on their concerns or suggestions, even if it was just acknowledging that you should be safe. That’s being a great Dad in my book. Thanks for taking the time to share your video.
Thank you! I really appreciate your kind and understanding comment. 👍
The most impressive part of this clip is at 3.50 !
Excellent solution Sir.
Thanks!
NO CHILDREN were harmed making this video !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That’s right 😀
Why did you move there? Is it too dangerous to live in USA?
No, we weren’t moving away from danger. We were moving toward what we are supposed to do next, and are planning on a year adventuring as a family. 🗺️ We’re working on more videos explaining & showing more. 👍

Clever! True nomads you are becoming
Thanks! 😀🧳
Water is coming out of my gutters But the thing is it rained a while back And now it's not raining anymore and water still coming out of it like dripping out of it normally coming out the normal way it's not like coming out of parts that aren't Supposed to be What do you think it What do you think it is why is it still coming out of there? It's been more than an hour
That's amazing, i love olive juice.
Oh you heard that… 😂🤦♂️🫒🍸
Thank you so much! Saved me so much time and effort replacing all the pipes below the issue!
Awesome, glad it helped! 🙌😀
I would have covered it with a big tarp, but thats just me.
Yep, present me would do that too 😉 Too bad past me didn’t, but that’s the point of the video.
I wouldn't necessarily call that simple
I guess Simple may be in the eye of the beholder, but what I was referring to is the fact it was mostly made of wood and stone, with very little metal-and especially the huge lever they used to press out the oil at the end… was not a fancy milled beam. It was a tree trunk that they bored and stabbed a pivot shaft through at one end, and carved threads into at the other. That’s basically all the finishing they bothered to do to it. It even still had bark on the majority of its length. So to me, that’s relatively simple. …Or maybe they were just exhausted after making the rest of the whole unit and just said, “forget it! Just use that tree right there!” 😆🤷♂️
How did you get the hanger drilled in so low is the question lol did you have a mini drill lol I'm jk with you
Isn't nomadic homesteading a contradiction in terms?
Also, definitely check out Our Lady of Fatima and the Miracle of the Sun. Blessings ❤
We are so excited to see where this takes you! We were honored to be part of your time in Missouri
Thank-you for that informative video--it's great to see your faces and some of the countryside. Vaya con Dios.
Did you take your vehicle with you, or did you buy one after you arrived.
We sold ours in the states and hope to buy one over here sometime soon. We We heard from many that the shipping and import process is very very expensive, not to mention the required changes that need to be made to the vehicle to conform to the legal requirements here. Our vehicle was still running great, but it was older and not worth bringing over here anyway. Vehicles in Portugal are very expensive though, which stinks. Besides vehicles & fuel though, most/nearly all other living expenses are lower & quite affordable though.
❤ Looks amazing and glad to see your faces! So excited to follow along on your new adventures! MO misses you!
We miss you all too! Thanks SO MUCH for all your help and prayers!!! 🙌🙏
Well, that stinks. I was looking forward to meeting you all sometime here in Missouri, but I don't blame you for wanting to try some other country.
Sorry! Maybe someday it’ll work out.
@@TomWylie Definitely! I guess I'll have to settle for UA-cam for now.
It looks beautiful! We look forward to following along on your journey.
It is! Thanks so much for your help and prayers! We’re enjoying still getting to video call. It really helps us not feel alone & still keep up on how things are going on for you guys too.
Wow! I'm so glad you finally told us where you are. We'll be looking forward to more videos about what you're doing. God bless you ❤
Thanks Jennifer! Sorry for the mystery, we didn’t intend to leave you in the dark at all, but were trying to let everyone know in a way that was clear. And then got so busy we had to just wait. We’ll get more videos coming as soon as we can!
I understand totally. It'll be a little more difficult to come visit you, now.
@@jenniferarndt5373 sadly yes, but for those wondering, plane tickets here are surprisingly not that expensive, and you can be a tourist for 90 days with nothing but a passport-no visa needed!
Hi Tom, this is Doug from Doug and Jennifer, any way we can connect? Are you on messenger? Or is there a way to get phone number privately? I am thinking along similar lines. Thanks
@@unique3phase yes hi Doug! 👋 I just saw your email and Mary’s reply. I’ll reply there and we’ll get connected. I’d love to talk & catch up!
Wow! Sounds like you want to do homesteading in Portugal. I have never heard of nomadic homesteading before. What is the purpose of nomadic homesteading? Israelites were taken up into Assyrian captivity and then migrated across the Caucus Mountains to Europe and America and from Eastern USA to Western USA. Now you are going backwards more and more. I guess you don't know yet where you will be going after Portugal. I hope you stick to the Israelite countries. At one time that country was very prominent but now it is just a place for tourists because it is cheap. Nothing going on in Portugal anymore, is there? Perhaps it will become a booming place and then you can sell your holdings into a boom to finance your next move. You're probably got a good price for your place in Missouri.

Thank you for this video. I was looking for a way to estimate a length of small line to make a “grip wrap” for a mug. This will help !
Thanks for the info. I have been devouring roofing videos to bone up on the info so I don't make any mistakes.
Good job, but not a hack. It's a multi-generations old method!

You’re my candidate for 2024 Darwin Awards
hmm, don't know why. Yes I could've done better, but usually darwin awards go to people who had something bad actually HAPPEN, versus a bunch of karens on the internet complaining that something COULD HAVE happened... in a video that was posted 3 years ago.
I guess when the chain slips and 3 kids go flying you just edit it out
I guess when you comment on a video you ignore the video description and other comments where I explain exactly how I was keeping the kids perfectly safe and the cable was not under any real tension when the kids were nearby.
How long is the boom on that?
How long is the boom on that?
Not new very old technique
Great method, very tidy. Like the line you added.
That method looks much more messy and slow than the tight method with the nice roll.
Are you stupid those are kids running around
That is an awesome crew you have there!
Thanks, I agree!
Sorry, ain't new,been doing it for 30+ yrs 👍
Alex ways to f yourself up for $500 please
Hello from North Idaho, didn't know you all were here. Glad we found your channel :)
Heres an idea, that would be great if you decide to make and sell these units. Construct it so it can be attached to a large tree....have the pillow bearings attached to a steel plate and the steel plate can be screwed into the side of a large tree , and the tree acts like the steel stand. This would mean you use less steel ,and its cheaper to make the unit and ship it. , Id guess, 4-8 large steel lag screws bolts that are at least 6 inchs long, could be used to screw the attachment plate into a large tree and if needed, maybe a additional mount , like a steel flexible band { like a metal band used to fasten down items on pallets for shipping purposes } that can wrap around the tree and be tightly fastened with a few bolts to tighten the band securely around the circumference of the tree.
Nice video. Cool trick with the 1/4" rod in the hole saw. Thanks for sharing this.
I see on your video, from 2017, that your drip edge is actually vertical and attached to the fascia whereas mine is horizontal and attached to the roof deck underneath my shingles!...so, their positioning is diametrically opposed...is your drip edge a special situation install or is my installer a total idiot?...I realize it has been quite a while since you produced your video but I hope you will still get back to me, thank you.
